Mysuru, the heritage capital of Karnataka, is a city where royal history, vibrant culture, and spiritual traditions seamlessly blend.

The Magnificent Mysuru Palace

The Amba Vilas Palace, popularly known as Mysuru Palace, is one of India's most visited monuments. Designed in the Indo-Saracenic style, it features ornate interiors, a gold throne, and the famous 750-kg golden Ambari (howdah) used during festivals. On Sundays and public holidays, the palace is illuminated by nearly 100,000 electric bulbs.

Dasara (Nada Habba) is a spectacular 10-day celebration marking the victory of Goddess Chamundeshwari over the demon Mahishasura.

Chamundi Hills and Religious Legacy

Perched atop Chamundi Hill, the Chamundeshwari Temple is a major pilgrimage site. Legend says the city was named "Mysuru" after the Goddess slew the buffalo-headed demon Mahishasura here. Visitors often stop halfway up the hill to see the massive 15-foot monolithic Nandi statue, carved in 1659.
